Best place to see snow in the Smokies without hiking — where is it?

Every winter the same question comes up: you want snow, but you don't want to earn it on a four-mile climb.

Newfound Gap Road gets you high enough that the roadside turns white while Gatlinburg is still just wet, and the Foothills Parkway overlooks hold it longer than you'd think. But conditions change fast and the road closes without much warning.

Where have you actually found snow without hiking for it? And when did you go?
